In this Skipper / Engineer role, you’ll take command of vessels each weekday as rostered handling both vessel navigation, onboard mechanical systems and all other service requirements.

The Role:
We’re looking for a combined Skipper and Engineer to:
- A vigilant and prudent master who can operate our 30m 150t vessel Skookum safely on the very busy Tauranga harbour.
- A Master or Crew member who can constantly adapt to the demands of ever-changing environmental and vessel loading conditions.
- Experience with 360° propulsion units is an advantage.
- Health & Safety – a good knowledge to align with our current culture and systems.
- Rostered as Skipper, provide an efficient and safe Maritime service to the public, other users, and staff.
- Day to day maintenance and troubleshooting – diesel engines, hydraulics, and onboard systems.
- Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety requirements and responsibilities under the Maritime Transport Act, MNZ regulations, and the Health and Safety Act 2015.
- Maintain all logs and ensure compliance with the vessel’s MTOP and MNZ MOSS requirements.
- Liaising and building strong and enduring relationships with key customers and community stakeholders.
- When rostered on deckhand duties, you will control load/unloading, electronic docketing and complete routine maintenance tasks.
Who You Are:
- Extensive knowledge and skills as a Master of a small ship.
- At least 3 years’ experience as a Master of a commercial vessel.
- Min. SRL 500T pax endorsement – MEC 5 (or equivalent ringfenced tickets to cover 50 pax and 30m vessel.
- Marine engineering qualifications with organisation and completion of shipboard maintenance experience and advantage.
- Confident communicator with strong leadership and crew-management skills
- Available to work shift rotations within the Mon-Fri roster.
- Health and Safety qualifications and advantage.

We are looking for a reliable and physically fit Yardperson / Class 2 Driver to join our team at a leading supplier of LPG and gas products. In this dual-role position, you will be responsible for managing yard operations and delivering products, ensuring the safe and efficient handling of gas cylinders as well as timely deliveries to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely load and unload gas cylinders using manual trolleys. Ensure cylinders are correctly stored and organized in the yard.
- Conduct regular stock takes and maintain accurate records of cylinder movements and stock levels.
